INSTALLATION and MAINTENANCE OF SMOKE ALARMS
The Country Fire Authority (CFA) provide tips on correct installation and maintenance of smoke alarms in the home, including example maps and helpful tips.
The Smoke Alarm and Battery Replacement Program assists seniors and people with a disability and is run by Fire and Rescue NSW.
Firefighters can visit a residence at an arranged time to install battery operated smoke alarms or replace smoke alarm batteries (smoke alarm and batteries must be supplied by resident). Having a working smoke alarm is vital to provide an early warning of fire and time to safely escape.

It is recommended that every 10 years you replace your smoke alarm with a 10 year lithium powered photoelectric alarm. When you move into a new property you should replace your smoke alarm.
